About GLAFF
GuadaLAjara Film Festival (GLAFF) is a boutique film festival in Los Angeles, active since 2010, and a sister festival to the Festival Internacional de Cine en Guadalajara (FICG). It is also one of the key cultural programs of the University of Guadalajara Foundation USA.
We focus on uplifting a new generation of Latin American, Latinx, and BIPOC filmmakers while also celebrating the work of established creators from the U.S. and Latin America. Our mission is to discover, support, and give visibility to voices that enrich the film landscape with authentic stories.
GLAFF is more than just a film showcase. It’s a platform to share diverse perspectives, build meaningful connections, and foster a stronger bond between cinema and the community. As a nonprofit organization, we are also committed to giving back; part of our events and box office revenue supports social impact projects.
We believe in cinema as a space for dialogue, where creativity, identity, and social engagement come together to spark new conversations.
El GuadaLAjara Film Festival (GLAFF) es un festival boutique de cine celebrado en Los Ángeles, activo desde 2010, y festival hermano del Festival Internacional de Cine en Guadalajara (FICG). Es, además, uno de los programas culturales clave de la University of Guadalajara Foundation USA.
Nos enfocamos en impulsar a una nueva generación de cineastas latinoamericanos, latinxs y BIPOC (negros, indígenas y personas de color), a la vez que celebramos el trabajo de creadores consagrados de Estados Unidos y Latinoamérica. Nuestra misión es descubrir, apoyar y dar visibilidad a las voces que enriquecen con historias auténticas el actual panorama cinematográfico.
GLAFF es más que una simple muestra de cine. Es una plataforma para compartir diversas perspectivas, forjar vínculos y fortalecer la relación entre el cine y la comunidad. Como organización sin fines de lucro, también nos comprometemos a contribuir de regreso; parte de los ingresos de taquilla y de nuestros eventos se destinan a proyectos de impacto social.
Creemos en el cine como un espacio de diálogo, donde la creatividad, la identidad y el compromiso social se unen para iniciar nuevas conversaciones.
Our history
GLAFF began in 2010 as FICG in LA, an extension of FICG. For a decade, it served as a cultural showcase that brought to Los Angeles—home to one of the largest tapatío communities outside of Mexico—some of the most notable films from Mexico and Latin America.
As the local community evolved, so did the festival’s vision. In 2020, it rebranded as the GuadaLAjara Film Festival (GLAFF), marking a new chapter with its own distinct identity, shaped by the bicultural experiences of Latinx communities in Los Angeles.
Today, GLAFF reflects not only the artistic legacy of its origins but also the diversity and energy of its host city. This transformation marked a shift from being an extension of another festival to becoming a voice of its own, deeply connected to the creative pulse of Los Angeles and its growing Latin American diaspora.
Building on this evolution, GLAFF and FICG continue to collaborate closely, maintaining the strong cultural and professional ties that have united them from the start.

GLAFF comenzó en 2010 como FICG in LA, una extensión del FICG. Durante una década, sirvió como escaparate cultural que traía a la ciudad de Los Ángeles, hogar de una de las comunidades tapatías más grandes fuera de México, algunas de las películas más destacadas de México y Latinoamérica.
A medida que la comunidad local evolucionó, también lo hizo la visión del festival. En 2020, cambió su nombre a GuadaLAjara Film Festival (GLAFF), abriendo un nuevo capítulo con una identidad propia, marcado por las experiencias biculturales de las comunidades latinas en Los Ángeles.
Hoy en día, GLAFF refleja no solo el legado artístico de su origen, sino también la diversidad y la energía de su ciudad anfitriona. Esta transformación marcó el paso de ser una extensión de otro festival a convertirse en uno con voz propia, profundamente conectado con el pulso creativo de Los Ángeles y su creciente diáspora latinoamericana.
A partir de esta evolución, GLAFF y FICG continúan colaborando estrechamente, manteniendo fuertes lazos culturales y profesionales que los han unido desde sus inicios.
Festival with a cause
At GLAFF, we’re more than a film festival — we’re a festival with a cause.
Every year, we support a nonprofit that helps Latinx and BIPOC communities in the U.S. Whether it’s about civil rights, gender equity, or immigrant protection, we help amplify their work so more people can learn about what they do.
We also donate all of our ticket proceeds to the nonprofit we choose that year, and we take a moment to recognize a key person from that organization for their significant impact and dedication.
En GLAFF, somos más que un festival de cine: somos un festival con causa.
Cada año apoyamos a una organización sin fines de lucro que se dedica a ayudar a las comunidades latinxs y BIPOC en Estados Unidos. Ya sea que luchen por los derechos civiles, por la equidad de género o por la protección de inmigrantes, nos comprometemos a difundir su trabajo para que más personas conozcan su labor.
Además, donamos la totalidad de las ganancias de nuestra taquilla a la organización elegida en ese año, y dedicamos un momento a reconocer la dedicación e impacto de una persona clave de esa organización.
2025 Non-Profit
This year, GLAFF Will donate its proceeds to Public Counsel.
Public Counsel is a nonprofit public interest law firm dedicated to advancing civil rights and racial and economic justice, as well as to amplifying the power of our clients through comprehensive legal advocacy. Founded on and strengthened by a pro bono legal service model, our staff and volunteers seek justice through direct legal services, promote healthy and resilient communities through education and outreach, and support community-led efforts to transform unjust systems through litigation and policy advocacy in and beyond Los Angeles.
Este año, GLAFF donará su taquilla al Public Counsel.
Public Counsel es una firma de abogados sin fines de lucro dedicada al interés público comprometida con la defensa de los derechos civiles y la justicia racial y económica, así como con amplificar el poder de nuestros clientes a través de una defensa legal integral. Fundada y fortalecida sobre un modelo de servicios legales pro bono, nuestro personal y voluntarios buscan justicia mediante la prestación directa de servicios legales, promueven comunidades sanas y resilientes a través de la educación y el compromiso, y respaldan los esfuerzos comunitarios para transformar sistemas injustos mediante la litigación y la promocion de políticas, tanto en Los Ángeles como en muchos más lugares.
