Synopsis
In a single, unbroken long take, Have a nICE day immerses the audience in the warmth of the Garcia family, a tight-knit Dominican household in New York. Gina, their soon-to-be-doctor daughter, joins her parents and younger brother for a proud and laughter-filled dinner. But when ICE agents batter down their door, the night shatters. The agents, armed and aggressive, detain Mr. Garcia, a U.S. citizen and Gulf War veteran, only to discover their fatal mistake. As the officers retreat, the damage is done: the family is left standing in the wreckage of their home, their sense of safety forever fractured.
Sinopsis
En un solo plano secuencia, Have a nICE day sumerge al público en la calidez de los García, una familia dominicana muy unida que vive en Nueva York. Gina, su hija que está por convertirse en doctora, se reúne con sus padres y su hermano menor para disfrutar de una cena llena de orgullo y risas. Pero cuando agentes de ICE irrumpen violentamente en su hogar, la noche se arruina por completo. Los agentes, armados y agresivos, detienen al señor García, ciudadano estadounidense y veterano de la Guerra del Golfo, solo para descubrir su error fatal. Cuando los oficiales se retiran, el daño ya está hecho: la familia queda de pie entre los escombros de su hogar, con su sentido de seguridad irremediablemente fracturado.

Berman Fenelus is a first-generation Haitian-American filmmaker from Brooklyn. For 15 years, he has crafted narratives where marginalized communities are deeply felt in their full humanity. An NY Emmy-winning director, his acclaimed short films like Lana and Have a nICE day merge social impact with masterful tension. Berman’s work reflects his commitment to using storytelling as a tool for social change and cultural connection. As founder of All Area Crew, he champions collaboration. His goal is to direct stories centered on Black, Brown, and Afro-Latino voices, starting within his own community and resonating across the globe.
