Julia Elihu
Julia Elihu is an Iranian-American writer, director, and producer. Through film, she aims to shed light on underrepresented stories that capture life’s candid beauty. In 2018, her independent short film, Yasamin, was a grand jury prize nominee at the AFI Film Festival. Last year, she produced the short documentary Team Meryland, which was a finalist at the Tribeca If/Then pitch competition and was acquired by The New Yorker and PBS’s POV Shorts Program.
In 2022, she associate produced the short documentary Long Line of Ladies, which premiered at Sundance and won the jury award at a number of notable festivals including SXSW, Seattle International Film Festival, and San Francisco International Film Festival. In 2020, she wrote and directed Winter of ‘79, based on her family’s escape story from Iran during the 1979 Revolution. The film played at a number of Oscar-qualifying festivals and is now viewable on Omeleto.
