In Tijuana, Mexico, Laura is accepted to a dance master’s program abroad and has to quickly make a decision. She goes out with her friend, Ana, who assumes that she won't accept the offer because she's still hung up with her ex, José. Throughout the evening in the downtown district, Laura notices various girls that are carefully watching her wherever she goes. Distracted and anxious, she can’t make herself have fun like her friends, and is constantly annoyed by the assumptions they make of her. After an encounter with José later in the night, Laura takes his body to a coven of vampire dancers– the girls she saw throughout the night– and is initiated into the group.
En Tijuana, Laura es aceptada en el extranjero en un programa de maestría en danza, por lo que tiene que tomar una decisión rápidamente. Sale con su amiga Ana, quien supone que no aceptará la oferta porque sigue colgada de su ex, José. A lo largo de la noche, en el centro de la ciudad, Laura se da cuenta de que varias chicas la observan atentamente dondequiera que vaya. Distraída y ansiosa, no puede divertirse como sus amigos y está constantemente molesta por las suposiciones que hacen de ella. Esa noche Laura lleva el cuerpo de José a un aquelarre de bailarinas vampiros y es iniciada en el grupo.

Writer and director from Tijuana, Mexico. Marinthia Gutiérrez graduated from the UCLA Theater, Film, and Television School in 2018 with a Bachelor’s in Film & TV, emphasizing in Narrative Directing. Marinthia is drawn to tell stories that are character-driven and introspective in an almost surreal way– she likes being close to her subjects in order to show raw emotions through highly stylized images. Her tone can be described as atmospheric magical realism. Marinthia's horror-dance short film, She Stays, is the recipient of the 2022 Standard Fantastic Fellowship, which is sponsored by Kodak and Fotokem to shoot in 16mm film, and Official Selection at Semaine de la Critique Cannes 2024.
Escritora y directora de Tijuana. Se graduó en la Escuela de Teatro, Cine y Televisión de UCLA en 2018 con una Licenciatura en Cine y TV, con énfasis en Dirección Narrativa. Le atrae contar historias introspectivas y basadas en los personajes de una manera casi surrealista; le gusta estar cerca de sus sujetos para mostrar emociones crudas a través de imágenes muy estilizadas. Su tono puede describirse como realismo mágico atmosférico. El cortometraje de terror y danza Ella se queda recibió la Standard Fantastic Fellowship 2022, patrocinada por Kodak y Fotokem para filmar en película de 16 mm, y fue parte de la selección oficial en la Semana de la Crítica en Cannes 2024.
